Sustainability

Sustainability
Farm Production – IAP is a regenerative agriculture operation; Solar power for our irrigation systems, soil protection through organic composting and annual crop rotations, water-source protection through adherence to international EIS protocols and water-usage management through the use of the most efficient irrigation technologies. Our farm production operations are sustainable over the long-term.
Food Processing – All IAP cashew processing plants operate organically. All IAP smallholder cashew farmers, from which we purchase raw material, are audited for organic practices, using zero pesticides or herbicides in their growing techniques.

Food Safety

Food Safety
International food safety standards are central to IAP business practices. All of our facilities are HACCP and BRC audited and certified. IAP only supplies its customers with fresh product from the current harvest.
- Current harvest only to ensure freshness, quality, and consistency.
- Independent food safety audits by SGS certify IAP production farms and processing facilities.
- Logistics value-chain certification.
- Organic certifications and nutritional analysis.
- Warehousing at production farms for drying and temperature-controlled storage at processing plants.
- Internal performance KPIs alongside the newest machinery & equipment used.

Solar

Solar Powered
Farm Production – IAP farms’ pivot irrigation systems are solar powered. IAP farm processing, storage facilities and offices are all powered by our dedicated solar microgrids.
Food Processing – IAP food processing facilities are being upgraded to dedicated solar grid power generation.

Carbon Footprint

Carbon Footprint
Farm Production – IAP corn (maize) crop is an import-substitution crop sold locally in Senegal and the sub-region. Its production locally reduces the need for corn to be shipped and transported from international suppliers (principally Brazil). For 8,200 MT of corn produced per year, IAP estimates a 1,703 MT reduction in carbon emissions. IAP is installing a new tree-planting program at its farm in Senegal, which will enhance soil quality and water retention through the planting of 500,000 saplings across 3,000 hectares.
Food Processing – Direct transportation of our processed cashew kernel from our Africa processing plants to our customers in the USA results in a 10-fold to 12-fold reduction in carbon emissions (IAP 232 net CO2/MT vs competitors’ 2,500 CO2/MT average) versus existing practices from Vietnam and Indian producers.

Land Stewardship

Land Stewardship
IAP operates its own nursery, planting 500,000 trees over 3,000 hectares operation. Pivot irrigation of crops on our farm provides a unique opportunity to enhance ground cover and soil nutrient stability. Using modern techniques, each 50-hectare pivot-irrigation system creates four corners of non-farmed land. IAP uses this land for carbon mitigation and soil stability. By planting local trees and fauna, we are able to provide shade for crops, animals, and workers. IAP forestation program is not only implemented on the farm, it is developed and promoted in the surrounded areas also.
